Heather's Library

I just finished reading the fourth book (out of seven) of the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon. Now those are some looong books, that one took me somewhere around three months to read...and I mean I read chapters beyond chapters daily. I decided I needed a break from the series so currently I am reading The Help, which my sister got for me for Christmas and I was super excited to get.

After I read The Help, I plan to read the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series and then the Hunger Games series. I have heard/read several people just can't put them down...now those are my kind of books.

If you haven't noticed, I like book series and I am always open to new book series suggestions if anyone would like to share.

Well, that is the start of my reading plan for 2011...because I knew you all really wanted to know : )

And the Job Gets Even Better

*Career Update*

As of Monday, Jan. 3, 2011, I became the new Marketing and Public Relations Coordinator for the Bartlesville Regional United Way! I was previously the Marketing and Campaign Assistant so it was quite the step up.

My current job duties are: writing press releases, news articles, campaign letters, funding request letters (basically anything written), keeping good relations with the community as well as our agencies, updating the Web site and our Facebook page, creating brochures, newsletters, etc. All of this I was doing in my previous position, but now I am the one who has to make sure it gets done instead of being told when it needs to get done.

I like to joke that I am head of the marketing and public relations department for the Bartlesville Regional United Way...but that is only because I am the only one in my department, hey it is still true :-) Really I work with a great group of people and we all have to work hand in hand to get the job done, one without the other just would not work.

I have been blessed with a good boss, co-workers and career.

Traveling the New England States

As many of you know, Jesse and I are trying to travel all 50 states. So far, in only 1.5 years of marriage, we have covered 26 states! When we are done conquering the U.S. we plan to travel all 7 continents...but we will see :)

This holiday season we traveled the six New England states: Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine.

Newport Rhode Island.
In front of one of the Vanderbilt home.

Connecticut.
This is taken outside Jesse's grandparents house. They have such a good view.

Massachusetts...where basketball began.
Behind us is the Basketball Hall of Fame. My face only looks funny because it was freezing!!

Vermont.
It was too cold outside to try and take a picture, but the view inside was nice.

New Hampshire
Maine

We had a blast to say the least. After hour New England tour we traveled to Elgin, OK to celebrate Christmas/New Years. More to come...

A 2010 McKee Christmas

This year Jesse and I were able to spend Christmas with Jesse's family in Connecticut. We had a great time, saw lots of cool things and it even snowed while we were there!

The whole family at lunch

We traveled to Newport Rhode Island one day and saw two huge mansions. This one is called the Breaker, owned by one of the Vanderbilt brothers. (more to come on my next blog post)

I know it is hard to tell (I thought my camera had zoomed in) but this is 50 cents house. He lives pretty close to Jesse's grandparents house s0 we took a quick look. That little guy (really a BIG guy) standing outside the gates is the one who pulled out his phone and yelled "I am calling the cops" since we were taking pictures.

We drove by ESPN headquarters.

ESPN satellite dishes.

Christmas morning
Jesse loved his green pants!

We played lots of games

Snow!

While up in Connecticut, Jesse and decided to take a little road trip to all of the New England states (Connecticut, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine and Rhode Island). More to come on that on my next blog post.
