The Tree Topper Debate

I need help from my readers...

This will be the second year in a row that Jesse and I don't have a tree topper on our Christmas tree. This may be no big deal to some, but to me the tree looks incomplete and we can't agree on what it should be. I want something traditional like a star and of course Jesse disagrees but he can never give me an idea of what to put on there.

Here's what we have so far:
I like: star
Jesse likes: ? ( I am guessing something a little more modern)
Reject ideas: We both agreed to not do what our parents did, a stocking cap or bow. Also no angels, they creep me out.

So any suggestions?

The Making of Christmas, 2010

I was having a hard time getting into the Christmas spirit this year for some reason. The first week of December did not feel like December. Slowly through out the past week I put Christmas decorations up, but still no Christmas spirit. It wasn't until last Saturday when we went to get our Christmas tree that it really felt like Christmas. There is just something about the tree that makes the holiday more special. Now the decorations, lights and tree are all up and it finally feels like Christmas...good thing too because it is only a few weeks away!

Here's the making of Christmas in the McKee household...

The stockings were hung by the chimney with care...(all we are missing is a fire)

Putting up outside lights. We don't have a ladder so we just decided to decorate the bushes.
Finding just the right Christmas tree.

This year we got a Fraser Fir, they have the perfect branches for hanging Christmas ornaments and they smell wonderful!

The finished look

Just a thought: For so many people Christmas will come and go without decorations, lights, a tree or presents. Think about about it...No, do something about it and give to someone who may not have any of these things this Christmas.

Merry Christmas!

Thanksgiving Time, 2010

I have much to be thankful for this year and the Thanksgiving holiday always reminds me to be thankful for what I have. I am thankful for...my faith, family, friends, my awesome and amazing husband, my new house (and garage! Love it during these cold days), health, work. Well, I think you get the idea.

This year we were at my parents for the holiday. There was lots to keep us busy while hanging out with our niece and nephews.

Jesse, Lillian and Lucas on the four wheeler...it was very cold, but that could not stop them!

Lucas opening his early b-day gift. I just love those Little Golden Books.
Jesse chilling with the newest nephew Wade.

Spending quality time with his aunt.

Jesse also snuggled up this little guy (for those of you who don't know Jesse, this is a very rare thing).

Nathan opening his b-day gift. He was so excited to get a train.

Even Wade got a gift, it's hard to see it on his face, but he loved it :)

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
